Purchasing and Applying a Classroom License

Teachers/schools have the option to purchase a classroom license for their students to have access to any FlinnPREP™ course or FlinnSAFETY™ course. Flinn sells four levels of licenses based on the size of your classroom. You can see current license pricing and a classroom size breakdown by visiting the “Course Catalog” tab.

  • A teacher can purchase a classroom license registration key from Flinn Scientific or directly through the FlinnPREP™ program.
  • Flinn will email the teacher an 8-digit registration key for that license.
  • After signing up or logging into a teacher account at, the teacher will be able to create a FlinnPREP™ course classroom or a FlinnSAFETY™ course classroom and apply the appropriate 8-digit license registration key. Students will have access to course content for 365 days from the time that the classroom is created.
  • Once a FlinnPREP™ course classroom or a FlinnSAFETY™ course classroom is created the teacher will receive a 5-digit student linking code that can be viewed in the classroom tab of the program.
  • A teacher can give this 5-digit student linking code to any student that will need access to the FlinnPREP™ course or the FlinnSAFETY™ course within the allotment of the classroom license which they purchased.
  • Once a student activates an account and applies the student linking code, they will have access to the course content for the duration of the classroom license, and teachers will be able to view and track student progress.

Teachers also have the option to create a FlinnPREP™ or a FlinnSAFETY™ course classroom without a classroom license attached. Students can be linked to this classroom using the steps mentioned above. In this method, students can be given the option to purchase their own individual license to access course content, and the linked teacher would still have access to track student performance through a FlinnPREP™ or FlinnSAFETY™ course classroom.

Access to Student Performance

View Student Progress

After your students have been linked to your classroom you will be able to click on their names to view their progress in that course. A real- time summary of completed course content is provided and you will be able to see a detailed breakdown of their unit assessments by clicking on that specific link.

View Detailed Assessment Results and Classroom Diagnostic Reports

With the FlinnPREP™ program teachers will have the benefit of being able to see the strengths and weaknesses of their incoming students based on detailed assessment results within each course. Teachers see every question students were asked and how they answered. Diagnostic reports (for both individual students and your “classroom” as a whole) analyze performance on a unit level. These reports also show how your students and “classroom” rank at the detailed topic level. Teachers also have the ability to view students detailed assessment results.

Communicate with Students

FlinnPrep™ courses and FlinnSAFETY™ courses include a message board feature that allows teachers to communicate with students who have been linked to their “classroom”. If a student is struggling with a certain concept they can reach out to their fellow students or their teacher for assistance. There is also a direct message feature that the teacher can use to send a message to one specific student and also allows students to send a direct message to their teacher in a linked “classroom”. Discussion boards are also available to allow students and teachers the ability to communicate with the entire linked classroom by posting questions, comments, or responses.
