How do I use FlinnPREP™ in the classroom? How do other teachers use the program?

Teachers in our lead user group during development and in our pilot groups during course evaluation, all praised the flexibility to integrate FlinnPREP™ into their current curriculums. Some popular implementation methods include:

  1. Assign units over the summer--This is a great option to refresh students’ knowledge of foundational concepts so they can hit the ground running on day 1.
  2. Use in the classroom as supplemental in-class work--This option is well suited for students who work well independently, allowing teachers to focus on smaller group instruction.
  3. Assign as homework--Using the data that shows students’ strengths and weaknesses for each topic, teachers are able to assign targeted work where students need the most help.
  4. Flip the classroom--Some teachers have students complete the units independently prior to starting a new unit. Then, using the data that shows the class’ strengths and weaknesses for each topic, teachers can adjust their instruction to focus on the topics that challenge their students the most.

Some teachers have even used the program with their honor students in core science classes as a way to provide extended learning opportunities. District administrators have also commented on how the program is a great support for new AP® teachers.
